Job Description:
As a Character Texture Artist, you will be responsible for creating style specific textures to our 3D character models. Collaborating closely with the design and modeling teams, you’ll ensure each character’s texture accurately reflects their design and concept specifications, all while maintaining technical precision and optimizing for the final production.
Responsibilities:
Develop high quality, realistic, or stylized textures for 3D character models, including skin, clothing, accessories, and props, ensuring they align with the project’s artistic style and vision.
Collaborate closely with 3D modelers to ensure textures are applied seamlessly to character models, with attention to UV mapping and texture placement.
Optimize textures for performance, ensuring they meet technical requirements without sacrificing visual quality.
Follow the artistic vision and direction of the project to ensure all character textures remain consistent in style, color, and material representation across assets.
Follow established technical pipelines for texture creation and integration, ensuring all texture files are properly named, organized, and version-controlled. Ensure textures are compatible with the rendering system and game/animation engines.
Receive and act on feedback from lead artists, directors, and other stakeholders, making adjustments to textures to meet both artistic and technical goals.
Revise and update textures during the production process as the design or technical requirements evolve, ensuring that textures remain aligned with character development changes or environmental changes.
Resolve issues related to textures, such as seam problems, texture stretching, color mismatch, or performance inefficiencies during production.
Requirement:
A Bachelor’s degree in Art, Animation, Fine Arts, Game Design, or a related field.
Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as ZBrush, Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.
Knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python or C#.
Familiarity with Gaming, VR and AR technologies and their applications in character texture art.
A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional character texture art skills, with a focus on high-quality textures, materials, and shaders.
Keen eye for details, ensuring textures are applied seamlessly and reflect the character’s personality and environment.
Ability to optimize textures for various platforms, ensuring they meet performance and visual fidelity requirements.
Ability to resolve issues related to texture deformation, seams, and integration into 3D models, while maintaining the overall aesthetic.
Ability to take constructive feedback and make necessary adjustments to ensure textures meet project requirements and quality standards.
